As the Cloud Architect, you will play a critical role in owning, driving, and implementing a vision of the cloud infrastructure at Kramp Group. As a key player in our architecture team, your role will include harmonizing the infrastructure landscape of the organization and transforming the traditional part of it into a modern cloud-first environment aligning with Enterprise Architects, Software vendors, and Business stakeholders. Additionally, you will be guiding the Cloud Plaform Team in designing a streamlined and effective platform, along with infrastructure enablers, for all product teams, facilitating their seamless adoption. 

 

In your role, you will be: 

Owning and implementing strategic infrastructure and security initiatives. 

  • Centralizing infrastructural enablers to leverage the advantages of our scale. 

  • Enhancing the security of our platform and introducing disaster recovery mechanisms.  

  • Creating and evangelizing vision on the observability of our platform and supporting the teams to comply with it.  

  • Modernizing the traditional part of our organization into a modern cloud-first environment while considering both systems and fostering a progressive mindset among teams. 

  • Transitioning from proprietary solutions to standardized software such as Terraform and password managers. 

  • Enhancing the stability of our platform by advising and advocating for the implementation of appropriate infrastructure practices. 

  • Identifying, documenting, and promoting architectural patterns that ensure resilience, scalability, and elasticity. 

  • Streamlining the operational costs of our platform through continuous monitoring and reduction of cloud-related expenses. 

 

Guiding the Cloud and Product teams: 

  • Guiding the Cloud Platform Team in creating a simple and efficient platform for all of our product teams (the team has a product owner, you will guide them from the architecture point of view). 

  • Advising Product teams on secure and efficient utilization of cloud infrastructure. 

  • Harmonizing infrastructure usage across Product teams. 

  • Steering the development of higher-level infrastructure components to address shared concerns across development teams. 

 

 

Some facts about us: 

  • We have a mature microservices platform running in GCP.  

  • The platform has been running in production for over 4 years.  

  • From the very beginning, the microservices platform followed the best DevOps practices both on the software and organization level.  

  • All microservices infra is defined as code, maintained in a git repository. All the builds, deployments, and infra provisioning are automated. Secrets are handled with care.  

  • All our microservices are containerized and run in GCP.   

  • Our product teams own and maintain the infrastructure they need under the guidance of the Cloud Architect (you) and the Cloud Platform Team.  

  • We are in the process of applying a state-of-the-art automation-minded set up with Terraform.  

  • Next to the microservices platform, we are responsible for a large and complex system landscape, that is a best-of-breed mixture of SaaS, cloud and on-premise COTS, and self-built applications.  

  • You will guide cloud adoption and excellence for a department of ~300 people.

Who are you?  

What will help you be successful in this role? 

 

  • 3+ years experience as a Software Architect or other leadership roles (Infra Lead, Lead SRE, etc.). 

  •  Experience with designing and optimizing distributed systems for: 

  • Observability 

  • Resilience 

  • Stability 

  • Security 

  • Cost efficiency 

  • Elasticity. 

  • Experience with cloud (GCP preferably). 

  • M.Sc. / BSc. in software engineering or equivalent. 

  • The ability to design, socialize, and execute a vision on cloud infrastructure, guiding and inspiring Platform and Product teams through its implementation. 

  • Expertise in understanding and addressing the organization's core infrastructure requirements while aligning and optimizing the overall infrastructure landscape. 

  • Cultural awareness, sensitivity, and adaptability in building connections with people from diverse backgrounds. 

  • Fostering an open and collaborative communication environment and adapting communication styles to various audiences. 

  • Experience working as a Developer, Ops, DevOps or SRE.
